Diabetes Spike in Seniors
New cases of diabetes rose by nearly a quarter among older Americans, contributing to an increased risk of illness and early death among people 65 and older, new research shows.
Prevalence of the disease rose by 23% between 1994 and 1995, and again between 2003 and 2004, according to reviews of records of more than 100,000 Medicare beneficiaries. For full article please go to:

Coming in February 2008- Healthy Living for Older Adults
The Heilbrunn Academic Nursing Center at Long Island University invites you to participate in 10 week program of healthy living activities. Groups will meet once a week for: health assessments, stress reduction activities, low intensity exercize and healthy eating-snacks included. Participants will receive a tote bag filled with goodies to promote healthy living. Program is starting February 14th. Session one starts at 9:30-11:00 a.m. and session two starts at 12:00-2:30 p.m. The program is free to participants.
